Medicare Advantage Plans from Palmetto Insurance

Medicare Advantage gives seniors more options than the original Medicare. It has the same benefits as Medicare Part A and Part B coverage, and some may offer additional benefits.

Seniors who enroll in Medicare Advantage plan are still part of the Medicare program, therefore they must be eligible for the original Medicare. To be eligible for Medicare Advantage, seniors must live in the plan’s service area, be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B, and not have end-stage renal (kidney) disease. In most cases, seniors can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan even if they have existing health problems, with the exception of end-stage renal disease.

With Medicare HMOs, PPOs, and private fee-for-service plans, seniors will continue paying their Medicare Part B premium, which is usually deducted from their Social Security check. Private fee-for-service plans may also charge an additional premium for extra benefits not covered by original Medicare, such as prescription drug coverage. Some plans also have a co-payment for doctor visits and prescription drugs.
